Okay, so basically I’ve always wanted to tell the story behind my song “Thought of Her” so I’m going to right now…
It starts out when I was 13, living in Sequim, WA and “in love” or so I thought. And I began writing the song for my girlfriend at the time who was seemingly the most perfect human being on earth.
It starts out “Girl, I would write you a lullaby… To sing you to sleep at night” as she was actually an insomniac.
Then continues with the chorus of the song saying “Walking home. It’s a warm summer night. Thought of Her, running through my mind” as I used to sneak out late at night to see her. She was the only person I wanted to be with.
Then the first verse saying “if you were a sailboat floating gently lost at sea, then I’d be the wind to carry you to safety.” Saying I’d hoped to always be there for her. All seemed so perfect.
Until I found out she had cheated on me. I was heart broken and hadn’t gotten to finish the song yet.
I decided to continue writing the song as I felt it meant a great deal to me. So the next Chorus I come in talking about the night I found out that she had cheated. It says “Running home, it’s a cold winter night. NO thought of her, running through my mind.” I remember it so clearly. So angry. So deceived.
At this point I was 14 and decided to move to Huntington Beach, CA with my brother Wes, to pursue my greatest passion, Music. Where I continued with the last verse, where it says, “I’ve found something new. I’ve found something to get me away from you.” Talking about music of course. Talking about one of the only things that is consistent with my life. One of the only things that consistently makes me happy.
I decided to end the song with a single word. “Girl”… as I still think of the girl and all the good we had, from time to time.
Here is the song “Thought of Her”:
- Awww thank you so much! I love you :]
